FAQs

  • We offer 10-year tube warrantee, called “Tubes for Life” should there be an issue. Thus guarantees the tube for the life of the machine, defined as 10 years by Micro-X.
  • We have not replaced cart batteries on any of our sold units to date.
  • We have no motors to repair so there are fewer parts to breakdown.
  • Recommended Preventative Maintenance is annual only.
  • Yes, all expected mobile x-ray examinations can be successfully performed delivering high quality images
  • Micro-X trained, qualified Field Engineers experts service our machines
  • Dedicated Applications Specialists train users on the hardware and software. They help configure the exposure parameters to suit your needs to obtain optimum image quality.
  • We offer on –site training options
    • Field Engineering training: 3 days
    • Train the trainer: 5 days
    • Clinical Applications: 1 day
  • We have a Service Portal accessible 24/7 to authorised personnel
  • No, NEX Technology™ is efficient at producing electrons and “harvesting” them from the cold cathode carbon nanotube.
Thermionic cathode technology requires very high heating of a tungsten filament to release electrons in a 360-degree direction. Thermionic tubes are therefore inefficient, losing up to 90% of energy generated into heat, owing to the traditional cathode design.
See sample images on our website and more are available upon request.
  • Most X-Rays performed by mobile systems, up to 95%, are at 110 kV or lower. (Data on file).
  • The requirement for motorized mobile carts comes from weight of the tubes, support arms, and generator-battery combination which leads to mobile X-ray systems weighing 350-600kgs.
  • Our NEX Technology tube weighs 2.35 kgs, traditional thermionic tubes are approximately 12kgs.
  • Our NEX Technology tube does not require an oil bath to dissipate heat, reducing bulk and weight.
  • We have a proprietary nontoxic shielding alternative to lead casing, which weighs less than 500gms, further reducing weight.
  • The Rover DR System needs less counterweight and structure for the arm to hold the head in place. Additionally, the counterpoise arm casing and Rover body are comprised of carbon fibre offering unparalleled strength and lightness.
  • A smaller more efficient generator results in a cart that is a maximum weight of 105kg. This is roughly 5 times lighter than motorized versions. Therefore, the design of the Rover does not need a motor.
  • Fewer batteries are needed.
  • We use 5 Lithium phosphate batteries that quickly recharge and are long lasting, adding to the reliability of the total system.
  • The lightweight system can be easily and precisely manoeuvred with one hand needing only a featherlight touch. This allows ease of passage through narrow doorways as a single operator.
  • Less serviceable parts, so fewer breakdowns anticipated that traditional systems.
  • Micro-X has been selling mobile X-Ray solutions through OEM partnerships for several years.
  • There are more than 300 units mobile x-ray units worldwide in more than 30 countries
  • Australia
  • The NEX Technology X-Ray tubes, generator, Rover cart manufacture and assembly, are made and built in the HQ in Adelaide, the South Australian capital.
  • Not right now; however, we are currently talking with Varex to implement this in the future.
  • No. The Rover does not have in-bin charging because we want to keep it as lightweight as possible. X-ray detectors are changing all the time. For example, the ports’ placement and inductive charging constantly evolve, so we purposely have left that out. Do not worry; the battery on the detector is excellent for 10-12 hours, and it comes w/ an extra battery.
  • No. The tube head does not have an electro-mechanical lock that holds the tube head and housing at 90 degrees. The movement of the tube head has a free-moving mechanism that holds the desired angle of the tube; therefore, no drifting occurs once in position. On the front of the tube head is a protector to keep track of the angle of the x-ray beam.
  • Our Engineering team is working on this and will be effective in the future.
